The Social Business Summit is an annual event organized by and at GK Enchanted Farm. Launched in 2014, this three-day event, which has become a « must attend » gathering, started with the idea of promoting and sharing our vision and faith in making our audacious Filipino dream of ending poverty a reality.

GK Enchanted Farm, the first Farm Village University in the Philippines and the world, has adopted a new approach to poverty eradication by introducing disruption in education and business. Poverty is not an economic problem but a behavioral problem with economic consequences. The Social Business Summit, which hosts every year more than 500 high profile local and international delegates, aims at showcasing innovative solutions to build a more inclusive economy that benefits to all, including the poorest of the poor.

The Social Business Summit 2017 will celebrate its 4th edition. In 2014, the issue of economic innovation for inclusive wealth creation was tackled. In continuation of the topic related to the business of kindness and doing good addressed in 2015 and 2016, next year edition will be dedicated to « Social market, disruption for shared prosperity ».

Thanks to an ever increasing interest and participation of CEOs of leading companies, high ranking government officials, social entrepreneurs, academics and social innovators, the Social Business Summit stands among one of the most important international meetings in the world. It offers a simple yet powerful platform to discuss the building of social market through disruption to support the rising Filipino.

The Enchanted Farm-Village-University in Angat (Bulacan) is the prototype platform from which to spur Social Artistry; the second phase of the Gawad Kalinga Roadmap towards prosperity for all. 24 more Enchanted Farms are to follow in the next few years, distributed all over the Philippines. Four of them are currently in development. The construction of the Enchanted Farm in Angat, located at a one-and-a-half hour ride north of Manila, began in 2010. It is now in its stages of finalization and will be officially launched as a platform during the four days of the Social Business Summit in Asia.

The Farm Village University in Angat is the first of its kind in Asia. This place is a unique ecosystem that provides a convergence platform for government, business, social entrepreneurs, innovators, scientists, farmers and community partners to work together in solidarity in creating solutions to global issues that affect all of us: Climate Change, Food Security and Extreme Poverty

The Enchanted Farm is a unique platform for two main reasons: One, it is probably the most striking characteristic that it hosts a GK village in the midst of a long-term transformational process from a squatter's mentality towards becoming a community of dedicated and empowered persons. People with the spirit and the freedom to dream and to pursue their dreams.

The second feature is the unusual combination of three functions in one concept - Farm-Village-University. Farm: productive economic activities with a focus on industries with an agricultural base. Village: the community aspect of economic development, the transformation of values and the healing of social relationships. University: the learning, unlearning and relearning at the Enchanted Farm is realized through the School for Entrepreneurial and Experiential Development (SEED). As the embodiment of the social education efforts of the movement, it aims to drive the evolution of the entrepreneurial spirit that is grounded on inclusive and sustainable development.

On the Farm-Village-University platform for Social Artistry, both private and public actors converge in search for inclusive wealth creation through bottom-up economic innovations.

An account of SBS 2016 by: Robert Aspin CFA

We all have pivotal moments in our lives, where a new direction or realization is offered to us. The last few days has been such a moment for me.

I attended Gawad Kalinga's (otherwise known as GK) Social Business Summit, held annually at their Enchanted Farm. Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. (GK) is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty for 5 million families, by first restoring the dignity of the poor. The Enchanted Farm is a relatively new platform established by GK to raise social entrepreneurs, help the local farmers and create wealth in the countryside.

What Tito Tony (Tony Meloto) and his team have done there is simply stunning. No, it's not an amusement park, it's a damn sight better. Out of a waste piece of land, his team have been able to create a beautiful oasis where financially 'poor' villagers can thrive, working with some of the most enterprising and good hearted entrepreneurs I could ever have come to meet.
